Blessed New Year 2007 Really time slips between our fingers and its gone! We can't hold it even to greet Friends, People we love so. Friends and people who loves us we know. It is the 4th January 2007 here in CH. On 31st December 2006 my sister, born in 1916, went to God one quarter of an hour before we could say good-bye. She slipped away just like that still wanting to get there before the new yearbegins! On her own! New year: 2007. It is now facing us and we have to make the best of it, to live through it, to build God's "kingdom" of peace through justice! What a job... Amongts other, I am quite sure that Malvina Reynolds, Joan Baez and old friends permit me to make known, without any lucrative intent, what soever, their wisdom in the song we used to sing in the sixties in Cape Town: Oh what have they done to the rain? what have they done to the air? what have they done to the stuff of our planet? what a task ahead for us in 2007 to save what remains to be salvaged on our beloved world! Just to survive... Just a little rain falling all around, The grass lifts its head to the heavenly sound, Just a little rain, just a little rain, What have they done to the rain? Just a little boy standing in the rain, The gentle rain that falls for years. And the grass is gone, The boy disappears, And rain keeps falling like helpless tears, And what have they done to the rain? Just a little breeze out of the sky, The leaves pat their hands as the breeze blows by, Just a little breeze with some smoke in its eye, What have they done to the rain? Just a little boy standing in the rain, The gentle rain that falls for years. And the grass is gone, The boy disappears, And rain keeps falling like helpless tears, And what have they done to the rain? Dear little boy, we love you. You are a million boys and girls! |
